Weekly Round Up | ANCESTRA & Emergent
ANCESTRA just premiered at Tribeca—a beautiful short film that blends live action with AI-generated visuals. Tools like Imagen and Veo were used to to craft scenes that would’ve been too complex or emotional to shoot traditionally.
And on the practical side? Flick just dropped Iris, an AI-powered social media assistant that helps you bulk create and schedule content in minutes. I tried it myself and was honestly impressed—huge time-saver, especially if you’re managing content solo.
I’ve included the best links and takeaways below, so let’s get into it!
🎬 ANCESTRA: A Short Film Where AI Helped Tell a Deeply Personal Story
ANCESTRA is a short film that just premiered at Tribeca, blending live-action scenes with AI-generated visuals to tell a powerful, personal story by filmmaker Eliza McNitt.
With support from Darren Aronofsky and Google DeepMind, Eliza used AI to bring scenes to life that would’ve been too complex or emotional to shoot traditionally.
Here’s how they did it:
Family photos as prompts – Old baby photos were described using Gemini to guide the visual style.
Images generated with AI – Imagen helped create concept art with the right mood and tone.
Scenes animated with Veo – These visuals were turned into short videos, synced with the live-action story.
AI added to real footage – In one key scene, Veo inserted a newborn baby (based on Eliza herself) into a live-action shot.
With over 200 people involved, AI didn’t replace creativity—it helped push it further.
👀 I shared one of my latest posts here with a free guide from Google that breaks down the 3 most important elements for prompting Veo. Hardly anyone’s talking about it — worth a look if you’re curious!
Emergent - Create an app or webpage within minutes

Emergent is a rising AI platform that turns your ideas into real, production-ready apps—just type what you want, no code required.
Say hello to effortless app creation where you can simply build like a pro, clone your favourite websites (yes, really), and skip the need for developer skills entirely.
Here’s how Emergent helped me create a collection page for jumpers in 5 easy steps:
Tell Emergent What to Build – Describe in the text box what Emergent should create.
Upload Your Media – Add any photos or content you'd like Emergent to use for the page.
Emergent Gets to Work – It processes your request, asks follow-up questions to fill in the gaps, and gets a better sense of what you're after.
First Draft, Refined – With all the extra details, Emergent generates a more complete version of your page.
Make Final Edits – Tweak anything you like or add more input—and just like that, your page is ready.
