Google Workspace has announced the general availability of Gemini in the Gmail side panel, leveraging the advanced Gemini 1.5 Pro model to streamline email management.

Key Features: Access Gemini by clicking "Ask Gemini" in the Gmail side panel or tapping "summarise this email" on mobile.

• Email Summarisation: Quickly grasp lengthy email threads.

• Response Suggestions: AI-powered email replies.

• Draft Assistance: Help with composing emails.

• Smart Search: Find specific information from emails or Google Drive files.

Gemini is also available in the Gmail mobile app for Android and iOS, offering summarised email views and key highlights on the go. Additional features like Contextual Smart Reply and Gmail Q&A are coming soon.

Full rollout for Rapid Release domains starting June 24, 2024; gradual rollout for Scheduled Release domains starting July 8, 2024 for Web and Gradual rollout starting June 24, 2024 for Mobile.

Admins can set content data training preferences in settings, effective 15 August 2024. Starter and Professional plans are opted in by default, while Organisation and Enterprise plans are opted out.
